USP Vs P2000 – Which Is Best?

The USP vs P2000 - the question many CS:GO players have asked. The two options for starting pistols on Ct-side are not obvious. Even if most players seem to prefer the USP over the P2000 is this really because it's better, or could other reasons be involved?

The USP-S is more accurate, has less ammo, and has a suppressor that helps with flanking. The P2000 is less accurate, but has more ammo, both in the clip and spare. For more skilled players the USP-S is usually the better option, but for lower-level players, the extra ammo might make the P2000 the better choice.

USP Vs P2000 – Ammo Capacity

The USP-S has 12 ammo per clip and 24 spares while the P2000 has 13 ammo per clip and 53 spares.

The difference might seem trivial and it most often is, except in some situations.

When spraying through a smoke the USP-S has the advantage of its suppressor which makes the bullets hard to trace.

The P2000 increased ammo, however, allows it to more freely spam through the smoke without regard to ammo.

Still, in most situations, the USP-S ammo is plenty. And if you find yourself running out you most often have killed two or three Terrorists already and can pick up their pistols.

USP Vs P2000 – Accuracy Comparison

When I first researched this article I was sure that the USP-S would be more accurate.

All my experience playing CS:GO was at least telling me this.

To my surprise, I found that the stats of the pistols that are shown when you buy them claims that the P2000 is more accurate than the USP-S.

This surprised me a lot, but after a bit more digging I came across a 3kliksphilip video on the subject in which he tested their accuracy.

This testing clearly demonstrated my belief that the USP-S was indeed more accurate than the P2000.

Both running, standing, and crushing accuracy was all better with the USP- S.

Suppressor Removed

Some people like to remove the suppressor on the USP-S. They say it gets better this way.

This, however, could not be further from the truth. The pistol gets much worse when removing the silencer.

First, the most obvious thing that happens is that the stealth advantage the silencer gives disappears.

The second thing that happens is that the accuracy decreases significantly. To one worse than the P2000.

The last thing is that it doesn’t even increase damage, as many believe it does.

So never ever remove the silencer on the USP-S, it only makes it worse.

USP Vs P2000 – Fire Rate

The fire rate of the two pistols is both 352 rounds per minute. This is slightly worse than the clock-18 400 rounds per minute.

The fire-rate is however not that important for the Ct-pistols, since you should nearly always go for headshots.

A very good tip to improve with the Ct-pistols is to only shoot when you believe you are going to headshot the enemy.

Noise

The noise advantage the USP-S has is often overlooked by new players, but it should not be taken lightly.

The silencer allows you to flank way more efficiently, as it will take your enemies longer to realize where you are shooting from.

The silencer also makes it impossible to trace the bullets through smokes. So the risk of getting shot back on when spraying through a smoke gets smaller.

Length Of Gun

This is another overlocked difference between the USP-S and the P2000.

The USP-S has a much longer barrel due to the silencer. This makes some positions on the maps risky because the Terrorist can see the barrel stick out from the edge.

To avoid this you need to look to the side or turn around completely, which makes it harder to react and kill the Terrorist when you spot them.

This might be the only time that removing the silencer is the better option and when the P2000 is clearly superior to the USP-S.

USP Vs P2000 – Pro’s Opinion

The consensus in the pro scene of CS:GO is that the USP-S is the superior gun.

The usage of the P2000 is rare with only a few players opting to use it above the USP-S.

This however doesn’t prove that the P2000 is the worse option for you, only that the most skilled players in the world prefer the USP-S.

They have been wrong before and can be again. An example of this was that the pro scene considered the SG 553 and the AUG to be useless.

Until they realized otherwise, that they indeed were very good guns.

Then everyone began using them, so much that they got nerfed. This after the guns had existed unchanged in the game for years.

Conclusion

In conclusion, if you are a more experienced player with a solid aim and game knowledge – choose the USP-S. It has the same damage, more accuracy, and is more sneaky than the P2000.

The only issue is the ammo, which the P2000 has more of, but if you are skilled the USP-S 36 bullets should be enough to kill a few enemies and then pick up their pistols.

This can however change if you are a worse player.  Then the increased ammo capacity might make the P2000 the better option for you.

Of course, even if you are a very skilled player and find that you prefer the P2000 – then use it.

The USP vs P2000 discussion has been going on for years and everyone is free to have their own opinion.

The difference is marginal and I recommend trying them both before choosing one and then sticking to it.

Bonus: Skins

Some of you will find this completely uninteresting and some will choose the gun only because of this:

Which pistol has the best skins? The USP-S or the P2000.

The answer is of course very subjective – but I would claim the USP-S has a much bigger collection of good looking, not too expensive (expect a few) skins to pick from.
